June 2, 2018

Next Session: June 9, 1-5pm, Hook and Ladder (Lake and Minnehaha).

A full crowd on hand for the festivities, with lots of guitars: Sam (trumpet and trombone), Raphael (bass), Jack D (trumpet), Steve H (alto), Bob (guitar), Craig (guitar), Andy (guitar), Wes (tenor), Steve M (piano and alto), Serdar (guitar), Carl (trombone), Annie (vocals) and Dick (vocals).

We started with Sam's Add-A-Tune, Big P (II-41). Your scribe went with The Blue Room (I-53). Raphael slowed it down with Miles' Blue In Green (I-51). Craig changed directions entirely with wedding band classic Spinning Wheel (IV-422). Wes went with the bop classic Groovin' High (I-166). Jack opted for the lovely and sad God Bless The Child (I-160).

On the vocal side of things, Annie started things off with The Song Is You (III-166), followed by Skylark (III-356). Dick called Fly Me To The Moon (II-135), and stayed in the groove with All Of Me (I-20). Serdar got the pick on the instrumental break, Billie's Bounce (II-44). Annie returned us to those thrilling days of yesteryear with Blame It On My Youth (II-51), and balanced that with the lively It Could Happen To You (II-204). Dick offered a medium bouncy version of Imagination (II-195), and the more sensuous Sunday Kind Of Love (II-392). Sam made the pick on the instrumental, going with My Little Suede Shoes (II-282). Annie called one more, Without A Song (II-428), and Dick wrapped thing up with Dindi. A few remained to play a particularly slow version of St. Thomas.
