Next Time: Sat., 5/28, 11am-2pm, behind McRae Rec Center (906 E. 47th St., MPLS)

WEATHER PERMITTING

Bring your own stand and chair.

The WEATHER PERMITTING is something to take seriously this weekend. The temperature looks favorable, but there is a decent chance of rain at the start time.

The weather last week caused cancellation, so nothing to report. Let's hope we have something to write home about this week.

NO WORKSHOP May 21, 2022. The weather is not in our favor this weekend.

A nice roundup of workshop veterans this past week: Sam (trombone, bass), Jack (trumpet, percussion), Wes (tenor), Raphael (bass), Serdar (guitar), and Steve (alto and percussion).

We played the following tunes.

Work Song ((II-429, Sam)

Along Came Betty (III-22, Wes)

Ain't Misbehavin' (III-13, Serdar)

Three Little Words (III-406, Yours Truly)

Solar (I-363, Jack)

Stella By Starlight (I-382, Raphael)

Chitlins Con Carne (I-81, Sam)

Groovin' High (I-166, Wes)

Alice in Wonderland (I-17, Serdar)

I Love Paris (I-189, Your Scribe)

We'd sure love to have you join us next time (just not this coming weekend: too cold).

Next Time: Sat. May 14, 11am-2pm, behind McRae Rec Center (906 E. 47th St. MPLS)

No time to right up a proper report of everything at the session, but suffice to say five people showed--Sam (valve trombone and bass), Carl (trombone), your scribe (alto), Bill (vocals), and Serdar (guitar)--and we played the following tunes:

St. Thomas (II-339)

The Girl from Ipanema (I-158)

My Romance (I-289)

Pennies from Heaven (II-309)

Two Degrees East, Three Degrees West (II-408)

More Than You Know (II-227)

Softly, As In A Morning Sunrise (II-355)

Fly Me To The Moon (II-135)

Blues By Five (II-58)

West Coast Blues (I-436)

The Lady Is A Tramp (III-227)

I'll try to make future reports more action-packed. And one of these days I will find out how to change the information running down the right hand side of the page.

LET"S START AGAIN!

It looks like this weekend will be decent enough weather for starting up the Workshop for Summer 2022. Let's assume everything will be the same as last year unless and until we can find an indoor home. For now, though, here are the details.

When: Saturday, May 7, 11am-2pm (maybe 3, depending on who wants to stick around)

Where: Behind (the North side of) McRae Recreation Center, 906 E. 47th Street, Minneapolis

Bring your own chair and stand!

 Next Time: UNKNOWN

NO outdoor Workshop this week. It has grown too cool.

We continue to look for an indoor venue. Who knows--maybe we can find a permanent home. Any ideas? We'd like to hear from you.

Your scribe will get the Workshop postings updated soon.

NEXT TIME: Sat., 10/9, 11am-2pm, behind McRae Rec Center (906 E. 47th St., MPLS) Weather Permitting.

Your scribe is so far behind now on posting the proceedings of the workshop for the last few weeks that it makes him a little sad. Still, the Workshop should be a go. The weather looks cloudy, but unrainy and warm.

Next Time

NEXT TIME: Sat. 10/2, 11am-2pm WEATHER PERMITTING behind McRae Rec Center (906 E. 47th St., MPLS)

The weather may or may not cooperate. The temperatures are looking good this weekend, but clouds and rain stand a good chance of wiping us out. Stay tuned. I will announce it here on Saturday morning.
