The Saturday Jazz Workshops run from just after Labor Day to just before Memorial Day, so the last session will be 5/22/10; Saturday sessions will resume again on 9/11/10. During the summer, the Jazz Workshop will be meeting on Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:45 at McRae Park because enough people were interested in this. Thursday sessions will start on 6/3/10 (final rehearsal for the Family Fun Day gig, see below) and will continue until the Thursday before Labor Day. The park will be closed on 6/10/10 and 8/26/10, so no sessions those weeks. The calendar (see link in the upper right box of text) has been updated.
The Jazz Workshop will be performing at the McRae Park Family Fun Day on 6/5/10. We still don't know what time we'll be going on yet. Upcoming rehearsals will be 5/22/10 and 6/3/10. We'll probably be performing for about an hour.
Sixteen people got together on the 15th to work on developing their skills at jazz. Joining us at McRae Park were first-timers Lisa (piano) and Kristin (piano/vocals), plus old hands Ken (drums), Peter (baritone sax), Owen (accordion), Brian (guitar), Bob (guitar), Tim (guitar), Craig (guitar), Annie (vocals), Max (bass), Toria (vocals), Matt (vocals), Margo (bass), Wes (tenor sax) and Dick (vocals).
The set list included "Embraceable You," "Up A Lazy River," "Cool Blues," "Forest Flowers," "Summertime," "Embraceable You," "What Is This thing Called Love," "Night And Day," "Late, Late Show," "Moonlight In Vermont," "Maybe September," "Ornithology," "Don't Go To Strangers," "More," "Like Someone In Love," "On The Sunny Side Of The Street," "Four On Six," "Always On My Mind" and "Fever."
I forgot my camera again this week. D'oh!
